South Valley Cusco Tour

Itinerary

DAY 1 CUSCO – TIPON – PIKILLACTA – ANDAHUAYLILLAS – CUSCO

  1. Tipón: Tipón is said to have been a royal garden did it by Wiracocha; It is one of the best examples of agricultural terraces created by the Incas; These terraces extend through the
    narrow valley and are fed by springs from the Apu (mountain) Pachatusan. You will also be able to see temples, irrigation canals and aqueducts. This archaeological complex is located 24 km (15 mi) southeast of Cusco.
  2. Pikillaqta: Is the only pre-Inca site near Cusco. This complex made of adobe was built by the Wari culture between 700 and 900 A.C A few meters from the area, you will see a small Inca site known as Rumicolca, which was used as a kind of resting place for the travelers that go through the place.
  3. Andahuaylillas: it is one of the colonial towns of the territory, in this town you will find an old church known as "The Sistine Chapel of Peru"; It is the home of golden altars, paintings from the "Escuela Cusqueña" and many-colored ceilings. The chapel is quite simple and modest on the outside; but once inside, you can see the wonderful interior decorated by awesome paintings.

On the way back you will pass through the town of Saylla, here you can enjoy typical Cusco food; delicious roast pork, lechon, and a soup consumed since Inca times, known as Chairo.

MACHUPICCHU INCA TRAIL 3D/2N

DAY 1. CUSCO – KM82- AYAPATA

The Inca Trail tour to Machupicchu stars with the pick up at your hotel (from 5:30 am approximately) We will travel for one hour and a half to Ollantaytambo where we will make a stop in order to have breakfast (is not included in the price of the tour). After this stop we will keep on our ride to km 82, where the entrance controls to the Inca trail are. Is in this place where you have to show your tickets and passports or any identification document which you used to made your reservation.
The Inca Trail begins at a height of 2,720 masl (8900 ft) Once we go through the respective controls at the checkpoint, we will cross a hanging bridge over the Vilcanota River. The first
day is quite easy and is considered the training day, since the trail is relatively flat. This day we will have gorgeous views of the Inca Huillca Raccay fortrees, the incredible archaeological site of Llactapata (officially called “Patallacta”), the Urubamba mountain range that divides the jungle from the Andes, and the beautiful snow-capped W’akay Willca 5,860 masl (19230 ft), also known as Veronica. Our first camp will be in Ayapata, which is an hour far away from the small town of Wayllabamba, with a height of 3,300 masl (10830 ft)

DAY 2. AYAPATA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – CHAQUICHOCA

This day will be probably the most difficult, but at the same time the most rewarding too, of the Inca Trail, we will appreciate spectacular Andean landscapes and vegetation of the place. We will start at 5:00 a.m. and after a good breakfast, we will begin a steady ascent for 4 hours to the highest point of the path, Warmihuañusca (Dead Woman’s) Pass, with a height of 4,200m (13871 ft) Along this walk we will be able to appreciate mixed vegetation, with native plants and trees such as the Polilepys or Q’ueuña, which grow in the cloud forest at a height of 3,650m (12000 ft).Finally after the 4 hours of ascent we will celebrate together our achieve in the highest point. So, after we get to catch our breath a bit and admire amazing views, will begin the descent for an hour and a half to the second point, where we will have lunch (Pacamayo at 3,550 masl/11700 ft). After lunch we will start with the last part of the climb, for 2 hours to Runkuraqay pass (4,000 masl / 13123 ft). Once in the pass and after a rest we will continue the descent for 1 hour and a half until we arrive to our camp in Cachicocha (3600 masl/ 11800 ft).

DAY 3 CHAQUICOCHA – WIÑAY WAYNA – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This day will be the most extraordinary of the trek. We will visit many archaeological sites along the way such as Phuyupatamarka, Intipata, and "Wiñay Wayna, which means: "Forever Young", after lunch we will leave Wiñay Wayna at 12:00 pm in order to reach Inti Punku or the "Sun Gate" which has a height of 2745 masl (9000 ft). At the Sun Gate, you will be able to see the first views of Machu Picchu. Also, from here you can see the sunset.

Finally, we will continue walking along the last section of the Inca trail, until we reach the place where you can take the classic photo (postcard photo) with the ancient city. In Machu Picchu you will have your 2-hour guided tour. After this we will go to the main entrance, in order to board the bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will provide you, your train tickets for your return trip to Cusco.

    courses (trained to use the first aid kit, we have an oxygen balloon that they always carry).
  • Professionals chefs and porters who grew up in Andean communities; They will be in charge of carrying out all the equipment we will use through the Inca Trail, you will only have to carry your own backpack with your personal belongings.
  • Transportation; We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to km 82. We got private buses and mini vans; very comfortable and with all the security accessories according to the quantity of tourists, our driver has many years of experience and a transfer that will help you in whatever you need.
  • Entrance ticket to the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu; this ticket allows you to do the Inca trail and Machupicchu (citadel), but it does not include the other extra treks, Huaynapicchu and Machupicchu (mountain).

DAY 1: CUSCO – WAYLLABAMBA

Very early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel and drive to kilometer 82, we will arrive approx. at 11:00 am, and begin our walk. This day is beautiful and quite easy to do, the first few kilometers are the easy ones. We will have an amazing view of the snow-capped Verónica and also walk close by the Vilcanota river until we arrive to the archaeological site of Llactapata, where we will have lunch. Later we will continue all the way to our first camp in Wayllabamba, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIWAÑUSCA – PACAYMAYO

After a good breakfast we start the most difficult part of the trek, but not impossible, we will walk to the highest point of the Inca Trail to have an incredible panoramic view of the whole area and you will be able to see the different types of microclimates that exists in the area. After 3 hours of steady ascent up we will arrive to Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman pass (4,200 masl/13800 ft) Here you will have the biggest satisfaction of have been reached the highest point of the entire Inca Trail. After this fabulous experience we will enjoy a deserving lunch and then continue descending until Pacaymayo where we will have dinner and spend the night.

DAY 3: PACAYMAYO – PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAYHUAYNA

After breakfast we will start our trek until we ascend to the second most important pass of the Inca Trail which is at 3,850 m.a.s.l (12640 ft), the Runkarakay archaeological complex, where we will have a tour of the entire complex as well as the Sayacmarca citadel. After the tour we will continue until we reach the archaeological complex of Phuyupatamarca, another important site, here we will have lunch. After our break we will walk all the way to Wiñayhuayna (always young) have a tour here of this impressive archaeological complex and finally have dinner and spend the last night in our camp.

DAY 4: WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

So, this day begins as well with a great breakfast, to have the energy to do the last day of trek, in order to arrive on time and appreciate the sunrise at Machupichu we will star quite early. After an hour of walking we will pass through the Inti Punku or Sun Gate, also known as the gateway to Machupicchu, where you will be able to appreciate the most impressive panoramic view of the whole citadel. After this experience, we will explore most of the Inca citadel, visiting the main sites such as, the temple of the sun, squares, sacred buildings, temples, the agricultural and urban area for about 3 hours. After our tour, you will be able to have some free time, so you can explore a little bit more and take more photos. Then, prior coordination, we will meet the rest of the group to take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes (if you wish, you can continue in Machupicchu). In the afternoon / night we return to Cusco by train. End of our services.
